I have had 2 cracked windows – large one in the lounge. No impact and happened after very hot days in Summer. Ritter says not property issue and insurance not applicable. Has anyone elsiffered unexplained window breakages?

I have had that myself with an east facing window in the bedroom – gets very very hot in the morning, and cracked. But you have been badly advised by Rendall and Rittner which does not surprise me as they are totally useless. It is covered under buildings insurance (which is included in your service charge) and I got mine replaced by local glazier, claimed it back, no problem. It was some years ago but I can dig out the details but advise you to ask whether it is covered under buildings insurance. This is all on the assumption that it was caused by heat or some unexplained environmental factor, rather than anything you or other occupants have done.
