Freeholders make belated attempt to assess support for Rendall and Rittner

Following the serving of Right to Manage notices on the freeholders, E&M (the freeholder for Centurion, Eustace, Horace, Howard and Oswald buildings) is trying to carry out a leaseholder ‘satisfaction survey’ which is in fact one of the most badly designed questionnaires I have ever seen in 25+ years as a researcher. Even CBWRA could not have done worse and that is saying something.

Apart from the appalling design of the questions and the questionnaire, there are some rather glaring omissions – e.g. respondents are not asked to say whether they think the service charge is fair or reasonable or (rather crucially) whether they want Rendall and Rittner to stay or be replaced. It does not ask respondents whether they support Right to Manage. The questions do not deal with some important aspects of Right to Manage (i.e. that the RTM company could employ staff directly and thus save 20% on staffing costs and the potential savings on buildings insurance commission).

Since the freeholder has never carried out a satisfaction survey of this kind in the past it seems clear that it is a response to the serving of the RTM notice to the freeholders and (possibly) is an attempt to gather evidence to support an objection to the RTM application

My advice to all leaseholders who receive this questionnaire is to answer the questions honestly (as far as that is possible given the general crapiness of the questionnaire) but also to contact E&M via their online form to state your support for Right to Manage (you can also write that on the questionnaire but they may ignore it). I predict there will be an extremely low response rate to this crappy survey and the poor design will mean poor and unclear results, which respondents may never see. No assurances on data protection / GDPR or anonymity are given so E&M can use the data in any way they wish. NB support for RTM does not mean you support the Banana republic of CBWRA or the unelected committee but simply that you wish to regain control of your service charge money and make CBW a great place to live.
