CBWRA refuse to publish any notes from ‘Leaseholder Forum’ on 4th October

The so called ‘Leaseholders Forum’ which CBWRA held with residents on the 4th October was the first ever actual meeting of residents with CBWRA (other than those which are required under the constitution such as AGMs). About 25 residents turned up but only 3 committee members. Despite a good discussion of over an hour it seems CBWRA have decided not to publish any notes of this meeting and hence no actions for them to follow up (the meeting merits just 4 lines in the notes of the October CBWA committee meeting). This confirms what I have said repeatedly – that the CBWRA has no interest in consulting with residents and that the ‘leaseholder forums’ (note that non leaseholders may not attend! ) are a tick box exercise rather than a serious attempt to engage with residents. I will publish my own notes from the meeting in due course but here are some key points

Many residents strongly support filling in the fountains

I outlined how the CBWRA ‘consultation’ on the fountains had been heavily biased in favour of keeping the fountains

There was considerable discussion around electricity charges and service charges and I explained why many CBW leaseholders were due a refund from Rendall and Rittner

Residents commented on poor communications from CBWRA with residents about Right to Manage and an a apparent lack of concerted effort by CBWRA in driving RTM forward.

The CBWRA committee refused to say how much progress the had made in signing up leaseholders for RTM

I suggested that there should be an audit of the 24 hour concierge service in terms of how it was actually being used between midnight and 7am and to what extent this expensive service was necessary.

I highlighted that CBWRA had wasted over 2 years by telling residents that Right to Manage was not possible and that my CBW app account had been closed without any due process simply because I had pointed out that they were misinforming residents on this point. I also referred to many instances of online bullying on the CBW app, the suppression of freedom of speech there and the fact that this was a continuance of the dysfunctional culture established by the former Chair.

It is no surprise at all to me that CBWRA committee regard these meeting as a token exercise and hence no notes and most committee members not even turning up. What a complete lack of respect this shows for residents and why would anyone bother coming to the next such meeting when it has been made so apparent that what people say at these meetings does not matter to the CBWRA committee.
