Stand Against Crony Culture at Chelsea Bridge Wharf – Push for Democracy and Accountability in our Right to Manage Company

Sign the Petition: Elections must be held for Directors of the Chelsea Bridge Wharf Right to Manage Company.
After much unnecessary delay, Right to Manage is coming to Chelsea Bridge Wharf and Rendall and Rittner will be replaced as managing agent.
When Right to Manage goes through (as we hope it will) it is vital that the power which is taken from freeholders is given to all residents, not just 5 unelected people as at present. 5 unelected people who have until recently opposed Right to Manage and told residents (incorrectly) for several years that it was not possible. 5 unelected people who refuse to let residents see the contract signed with Urang because ‘there might be too many opinions’ , refuse to hold an AGM and refuse to put themselves up for election.
The Right to Manage company will oversee a service charge budget of around £6 million per annum and will have the right to hire and fire the managing agent. This represents a significant amount of power and to ensure that it is used in the interests of all leaseholders and that leaseholders” wishes are taken into account when making important decisions, it is important that Directors are accountable to leaseholders through annual elections which are conducted fairly.
This will ensure that Directors behave in a way which respects leaseholders wishes and that they conduct themselves in a professional manner. or that if they do not, then they can be removed at the ballot box.
Fair elections mean
i) a transparent electoral process which does not give advantage or disadvantage to any candidate
ii) Making participation in standing as a candidate, or voting for a candidate, accessible to all.
‘Ratification’ of Directors (i.e where the existing directors are simply presented as a group, for a yes/no vote on all of them) would not be a fair or meaningful election. This method is used by the current CBWRA committee and renders elections meaningless – it is a token gesture /rubber stamp exercise and means that the same people stay on the committee regardless of ability or performance. It is a ‘crony culture’ which is not healthy and not good for the future of Chelsea Bridge Wharf
Please support this petition to ensure that we, the leaseholders of Chelsea Bridge Wharf, can actually enjoy the benefits of Right to Manage, in terms of control over how our service charges are spent , and having a say generally in how the development is run.
Thanks and please get in touch with any questions or feedback and PLEASE SIGN to ensure we develop as a healthy democratic and efficient community after Right to Manage.
