CBWRA AGM – Omnishambles
Thanks to all residents who attended the AGM – or tried to! the CBWRA AGM was a shambles..even by CBWRA standards. The list of committee members circulated 2 hours’ ahead of meeting, new meeting link 2 hours before the meeting, so that many people who did not get the new link did not attend.
No discussion of the motions allowed on the CBW app.
A bizzare and unauditable online proxy voting system and the creation of a 3rd kind of vote – neither proxy nor personal attendance – vote ahead online and then turn up anyway. The idea of course being to get as many people as possible to vote without hearing the motions discussed and to create as much confusion as possible. People who are not leaseholders attending and voting. Well to be fair, some of that may have been genuine incompetence rather than deliberate creation of confusion but either way no one could have any confidence in any of the votes at the AGM. CBWRA tried their best to avoid a vote on ‘ratifying’ the committee and anyone who did not attend the meeting did not get a chance to vote on committee ratification – because it was not offered on the online form.
Also people who have been the subject of 4 police complaints by 3 residents should not be allowed to be members of CBWRA, let alone committee members. I also noted the attendance of the person who posted dozens of anti-Semitic tweets a short while ago and is not even a leaseholder at CBW to the best of my knowledge.
The sense of entitlement and being above any democratic checks and balances was pretty sickening. Still, some good discussion despite that and perhaps we will actually see something that looks like CBWRA accounts, for the first time ever. CBWRA still refusing to take notes at meetings with residents. So odd that things which are taken for granted in most residents’ association are so bitterly resisted by CBWRA.
