Congratulation to Parklands (Kirkby) on ‘liberation’ from Rendall and Rittner – and saving £95,000 on energy costs
Congratulations to Parklands (Kirkby) in sacking Rendall and Rittner and arranging a new managing agent. It was a somewhat complex situation and did not involve Right to Manage but did require a lot of hard work from a group of very determined leaseholders who have faced ridiculous service charges and appalling service over a long period and I have been happy to have been involved in a very minor way.
The leaseholders at Parklands wanted me to alert all readers of this blog who may have a ”Qualified Heat Network” (which usually means A COMMUNAL HEATING NETWORK) that considerable subsidy for electricity costs is available via the government EBDS subsidy. EBDS replaced the more generous EBRS in April 2022 and will apparently run up till April 2024. While EBDS offers a fairly modest amount of help towards communal electricity bills for most flat dwellers, those who have a COMMUNAL HEATING NETWORK (”Qualified Heat Network” ) can obtain much more significant help.
Residents running the Parklands management company feel that they were misinformed by Rendall and Rittner that they did NOT qualify for EBDS discount – but it turns out they were and have therefore gained a huge rebate against their massive energy bills. In fact Parklands leaseholders report they have saved around £95,000 for leaseholders by ignoring Rendall and Rittner’s advice and ensuring that EBDS was applied to their bills.
So, make sure that you check for yourself whether you qualify for this subsidy and that Rendall and Rittner (or which ever managing agent is running your development) has claimed and applied this discount where applicable.
Residents at Chelsea Bridge Wharf meanwhile (who do not have a communal heating network) have many unanswered questions about our communal electricity costs – full update to follow soon.
